It’s Meghan’s birthday! And she and Harry celebrated by attending the wedding of Harry and Wills’s friend Charlie van Straubenzee to Daisy Jenks, where I assume they both really tore into the nacho cheese fountain at the reception with the excuse that molten cheese calories don’t count on your birthday. (This is true.) Some background: The van Straubenzee family has been friends with Wills and Harry since prep school and they’re all very tight. Harry was, in fact, best man at this wedding. As far as I understand it, Harry and Charlie used to do a LOT of carousing back in the day. On the topic of the bride, one British tabloid has called her “a professional videographer,” another has called her “a filmmaker,” and I suspect the truth is that she doesn’t really need a job but she does flarg around with a camera from time to time.
In other news, Wills and Kate were rumored to be attending this as well, but I haven’t seen pics of them yet. They’re just home from Mustique, so maybe they’re both brutally sunburned and busy lying in twin baths of Calamine lotion right now, groaning, while Charlotte keeps bringing them allegedly helpful tinctures. Or maybe they decided they didn’t want to have their photos taken, so they snuck into the church in the florist’s van. Anything is possible. (Obviously, if they pop up, I will add them to this.)
In other news — sartorial, this time: Meghan has clearly heard the grousing that she’s been wearing clothing that’s too expensive, because this dress (which I quite like) is by Club Monaco and it’s just sitting there online, ready to be bought by the normals. (Her shoes are her trusty Aquazurras, which must be SO COMFORTABLE. She wears them all the time. They’re available in hot pink now. Do I need them?! No. No, Jessica. Get a grip.)
