Brie here playing the titular role in a new adaptation of Electra, the Sophocles play, which just opened on the West End, and which is apparently “punk” in this iteration and is now Elektra, with a K — hence, the hair. The reviews are not great (neither are the ones for Rami Malek who is currently doing Oedipus; London is in a very classical mood at the moment), but she’s not really getting blamed for the issues with the production. I’ve long banged a gong that I don’t get her professional choices, post-Oscar, but I actually think her doing classic theatre in London is very cool and exactly what she should be trying. Also cool: The juxtaposition between this hair cut, which I like on her, and her very buttoned-up, ladylike outfit. I’m into it.
