This week went fast; I guess that happens when it gets started on Tuesday. For what it’s worth, I have had no idea what day it is at any point this week. Hope you have a pleasant weekend ahead.

Just one issue of Drinks With Broads this week, due to the holiday: We take on the newest Vogue “director of content,” the Thursday Murder Club movie, Dancing With the Stars, and…Diet Coke may have turned on Heather?!?! J’ACCUSE.

PSA: The VMAs are Sunday on, uh, CBS. (How MTV has fallen since my youth, truly.) We’ll have full coverage here on Monday, as ever! Also mark your calendars for September 14, which is the Emmys. Between all that, the Venice Film Festival, TIFF, and the upcoming New York Fashion Week, we’re all really back in business after the summer, right? Hope you got a new notebook!

Speaking of, we celebrated the upcoming VMAs with flashbacks to the 2005 ceremony and the 1995 event.

Heather covered the US Open’s kits (and action).

Giorgio Armani died yesterday at 91, working up to the end. The New York Times has a vast and excellent package celebrating his life and work.

I kinda love this couple? (I’ve never thought that about her.)

I have decided I need more kooky glasses and have been crowdsourcing Warby Parker options on our Instagram; right now, this is the leading Kooky Contender. (Kooktender? No.)

This is a great interview with the former owner of Barney’s.

Fascinating: The Forever-35 Face: “The face-lift is better than ever, and everybody wants one. Deep inside the uncanny world of the surgically ageless.” I sincerely have no judgement here; I love my Botox and know a lot of people who’ve had plastic surgery that they love. Women can’t win; we get judged if we have work done and we get judged if we don’t, so do what you want with your own face (and neck). (And money.) This piece is really well done and kinda juicy, and includes before and afters. It’s also very straight-forward about the brutality of these procedures, so if reading about surgery and seeing recovery pics makes you queasy, steer clear.

Speaking of Back to School, this time of the year always makes me want to go shopping. I know Fug Nation loves Rothy’s – their new fall line is pretty cute! I got some clogs (to wear when I walk the dog, to be honest — I need something comfy I can throw in the washer!) but I really kinda love these pointy toe flats.

This is also when I start wondering if I need to buy some corduroy pants. I’ve also spent the last twenty years of my life buying a lady jacket at J.Crew every fall, it feels like; I love this one (maybe in the pink, even?). Honestly, buying new school clothes (or just fall outfits) has been a joy of my life since I can remember. (I still have this J.Crew jacket! If you like these sort of little jackets, Poshmark has a ton of them and the quality is good if they’re old enough. It does take some digging though.)

I can just tell there are gonna be a LOT of Hot Takes about this Wuthering Heights adaptation. I do not have as positive a vibe as this piece, though. Everything else I’ve read about it sounds completely insane????

This is really good (and helpful) (and touching): The Most Loving Thing You Can Do. I need to do basically all of this. My mother died suddenly in December, as most of you know, and I can’t count the number of times I thought, “thank god I know her phone code.” If I fall in a volcano, my husband is in a mess.

It’s Leather Jacket Season (at least on the calendar, if not on my body); I have an old one from Madewell that I love but my friend Lauren has a great one from Quince and they have a lot of options if you’re in the market, like this classic moto jacket. (They’ve got an oversized one too.) The cropped version has way less hardware, and then they’ve also got what I’d call a modern bomber.
