Ugh, what a WEEK. First Dolly, then Tim Curry, and I just read that Peter Cullen — AKA Optimus Prime AND also Eeyore! — also died on Wednesday. Those horrible floods in Tibet and Nepal. It’s SO hot in Southern California, and maybe where you are. Every time I open my news app, something freshly bonkers is happening. All I can say is that it’s been a tough week for me to be taking a drug that has “irrational rage” as a listed side effect. (It’s montelukast.) I hope you’re holding it together as best you can.
At Drinks With Broads this week: In Praise of Melanie Lynskey….and National Treasure 3. Plus, people are being insane about…Connie Storrie’s hair? And! A new trailer for The Gilded Age. I agree with Lainey that Gigi Hadid’s Guest in Resident line is annoyingly good. (It’s also very spendy, because it’s cashmere.) I have one of their crewnecks and it is extremely nice — if you have a rich aunt who always asks you what you want for Christmas, make a mental note.
Speaking of sweaters, J.Crew has a new iteration of their INCREDIBLY popular roll neck: The tiny roll-neck. They sent me one and it’s quite cute if you’re looking for something to wear with higher waisted pants/skirts/jeans — it hits right at or just below your waist. I feel like the word “tiny” is a misnomer: It looks cropped on the models but mine isn’t on me — you can see it on actual people in the J.Crew reviews. (Mine is blue but they of course have a striped one.) It’ll be good with trousers if it ever cools down.
Speaking of fall, Inez — I love their heels, they are sincerely comfortable on me — has a very cute line of ankle boots right now. I think these are beautiful.
