Happy weekend, everyone! Please do your best to keep cool out there, and if you’re in Bertha’s path, I hope it’s a real nothingburger of a storm. As a heads-up, this Mercury Retrograde has been A HELLHOLE; we’re having a LOT of issues with the site on the backend — slideshows are pretty broken, our tags were briefly broken, a bunch of stuff is broken due to a variety of reasons ranging from WordPress having to run an update that does not play well with our code and the fact that the site is old AF and held together with tape and string. We are going to be have a — hopefully!! — improved reader experience before the end of the year but if you run into Weirdness, this is why. I’m sorry, I know this stuff is frustrating. If you randomly get a 502 message, refreshing your browser should help.

At Drinks With Broads this week, a lot of talk about books. On Tuesday’s edition, everyone gets into the books we were obsessed with checking out of the library as kids, Heather reviews Fackham Hall, and also has…a Smell. Yesterday, everyone talked about their keeper cookbooks, and I investigate whether Rome holds up.

Here at GFY, I rounded up a bunch of sales sandals, and the most practical items from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This week’s best-sellers were this cute bomber jacket (one of you shared this in the Nordstrom post!); this great Clinique moisturizer; and this very cute bra. (In a close fourth is this breezy little dress.)

Oh, I saw these pics of Katie Holmes and I was wondering about her new man! Lainey has the scoop.

I’ve been trying this Ultra Violette mist sunscreen lately – on my face, mostly, but also to re-apply on my shoulders when I out and about — and I really like it. (The Aussies are good at sunscreen!) It’s been SO hot lately that I’ve been wearing all my thermo-regulating stuff from Third Love on repeat. It really DOES help. I have the undies AND the t-shirt bra — they’re both great. (I also endorse the thermo-regulating activewear; the leggings and the sports bra are both great.)

I appreciate this salute to National Treasure.

The LA Times has a very logistics-y piece about the chandelier in the production of Phantom of the Opera currently here in LA. (I have tickets! I haven’t seen it in years.)
