Greetings, Fug Nation, and happy Friday. I cannot lie: This week was rough. The state of the world has been wearing on me, as I’m sure it has on all of us, especially after the multiple mass shootings that happened over the weekend. I gave money to Everytown For Gun Safety, and we also had a conversation on Twitter about how best to provide aid to the victims. Additionally, if you have concerns about gun safety laws in America, I encourage you to contact your Senator. (If you have phone anxiety, I recommend ResistBot.) That’s not even getting into all the other extremely bad news, like how the glaciers are all melting! There is a reason “may you live in interesting times” is a curse and not a blessing.

Anyway! Uh, sorry about what a bummer that was. I do have things for you to read:

Do you need some new cute flats? We’re on it.

We also covered the new 90210. (Spoiler: We liked it.)

Related, at The Ringer: The 90 Most Important Moments of ‘Beverly Hills, 90210’. I think Dead Scott is a little low, but otherwise, a very solid line-up, and a super enjoyable read. I do agree with the number one.

Toni Morrison, one of America’s (and the world’s) greatest writers, died this week. Doreen St. Felix wrote about her for The New Yorker, and Tayari Jones wrote a wonderful piece for Time.

Remember that story last week about the Harvard professor who was so thoroughly scammed by a woman that she actually ended up moving into his house and locking him and his family out? The Cut has an update: She is a busy scammer!

A member of Fug Nation directed my attention to this piece, because it’s about an organization she works with. I have to warn you that it’s also a bit of a harrowing read at the jump, but ultimately hopeful: Rwandan Women Want to Move the Country Past Its Association With the 1994 Genocide.

At Lainey, this is a really interesting piece about Victoria’s Secret’s attempts to rebrand. Too little, too late?

Variety had a great article about the genesis of Beverly Hills 90210’s iconic theme song.

Fascinating, at WaPo: The Iowa State Fair can make — or break — a presidential candidate

Also at Lainey, Gal Gadot is going to be in a “limited series” — JUST CALL IT A MINI-SERIES, HOLLYWOOD — about Hedy Lamarr. That’s PERFECT casting.

At Pajiba: People Keep Giving Benioff and Weiss Money and Opportunities

Uh, so I don’t know if this is going to make you feel any better, but it’s a really good piece: The end times are here, and I am at Target. [The Outline]

This might cheer you up, at The Cut: An Evening With New York’s Most Glamorous Cats. It’s behind the scenes at a CAT FASHION SHOW.

At Celebitchy: Elizabeth Olsen is wearing the Lyons Emerald! (That’s a reference to The Royal We. It is her engagement ring.)

The photos from this wedding, at Vogue, are GORGEOUS. Let them sooth you!

At The Mary Sue: Twenty Years Later, The Blair Witch Project Is Still Chilling.

At Bitch: Brands Are Butting into “Hot Girl Summer” to Make a Quick Buck

At Socialite Life: Well, this is A REALLY BAD IDEA!!!!!! Lindsay Lohan and the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia Are “Getting Close.”
