Amanda here actually looks pretty good.

I particularly enjoy how the braids echo, but don’t directly copy, the dress’s ropy straps. It’s a cute outfit, if slightly under-decorated, and suffering a bit from the fact that the shoes’ leather grids are drifting around on her foot. But the problem I’m having is that I don’t like what I’ve seen of Seth MacFarlane, or any of his work — like, if I hear Stewie or Peter Griffin, my acids bubble — so I’m totally looking at this from aboard the deck of the S.S. Bias. Normal people would just assess the outfit and move on, but of course my mind drifts into, “Maybe the shoes are a METAPHOR for the MENTAL AND EMOTIONAL PRISON OF THIS PAYCHECK.” I promise you, I realize none of these things are true, and that she probably enjoyed making this movie and will embrace it all the way to the bank (especially if it pulls in big box-office numbers). But I have always sworn to let you know if I’m bringing in a cranky bias or other weird backstory into a post. It happens, we’re human, so let’s just admit it so that none of you ever feel tricked. And so this was my confession. In the end, I’m pretty sure Amanda looks good, but because it’s more fun to wonder, “Perhaps the top represents the CURTAIN she wishes to THROW OVER THIS EXPERIENCE,” I can’t trust my gut anymore.
