When I recently asked for requests for this post on Twitter, one of the most mentioned ones was this: Cute tops that you can wear to work, that don’t have all kinds of dumb shit on them. (I paraphrase.) And who amongst us has not stood in front of her closet and thought, “ugh, I hate all my shirts”? This is why I own like seven button-down silk blouses. Are they arguably boring? Sure. Are they very very useful? Yes. (I like the J.Crew ones BUT! Sometimes they fiddle with them; for example, I have a J.Crew silk blouse from last year that’s totally reasonable except they did something with the cuffs and now I cannot roll up the sleeves? Sigh. I also really like the Everlane ones, but sometimes their colors are not to my taste. I haven’t tried the Universal Standard ones, but they look very nice. And of course Poshmark and your local consignment stores are also a good and sustainable option if you’re a fellow lover of the silk blouse and in the mood to do some digging.)
