I forgot this dress ever happened, which is surprising, because it’s so memorably good on her. She wore it to the premiere of The Burning Plain at the Venice Film Festival — a movie that I’m not sure I knew existed, although Jennifer Lawrence is, notably, in it as a Young Charlize. It did not get good reviews, and it did not make any money, and I suspect it just passed my eyes without being absorbed at all back in the day. But none of that is the fault of this dress! Which was the custom work of Versace…a design house she might be well served to, one day, return to, if her Dior contract ever ever ends.
