Happy Birthday to Cameron Diaz, whose on-screen presence I’ve missed ever since she retired in 2018. (She did show up at Sophia Richie’s wedding, because Nicole is her sister-in-law.) I don’t blame her — if I could noodle around making wine in Santa Barbara all the time, I would!! — but I wish she’d get an offer she couldn’t turn down, and make a return. I will note that in looking through 20,000 photos of her throughout her career, a few things became clear: (a) she used to get papped a lot and that had to have been incredibly draining, (b) the quality of films she was appearing in was certainly going downhill, and I respect her for being like, “yeah, I think I’m done here!” although I also think Prestige TV could find a beautiful home for Cameron Diaz that would also allow her to spend time with her family, and (c) she LOVES jeans. I didn’t pull a ton of denim-based looks, but just know that this woman loves jeans and a kicky hat. Otherwise, please join me in celebrating her red carpet history, which is, in large part, much better than I remember.
