I’m not sure why Balmain did a separate men’s and women’s resort collection, at a time when menswear and womenswear collections increasingly blur the standard lines and ignore the gender binary. The women’s collection uses some of the ornate details that Balmain is known for, mixed in with a lot of fringe and other drama — slide 52 should be sent directly to Jodie Turner-Smith — and there sure are a LOT of leather and trousers for a resort line?
