This is BY FAR the most interesting thing Saoirse Ronan has worn on the awards circuit so far — and with very positive results:
Maybe she feels more at home — and more adventurous — now that she’s nearer to her native soil. Maybe Cate Blanchett called her and told her everyone was wearing patterns to this thing (who disobeys Cate? No one). Maybe she just decided, “you know what? I’m not going to win any of these, so let’s start veering a little out of the safe zone.” Maybe this came to her in a dream. Maybe she chose this by a sophisticated dateboard process. Does it even matter? Keep doing…whatever it was that led to this.
