Yes, you’re correct that the Astra Awards were also in January — that was their film ceremony, I guess, and this is for TV — and you’re also correct that this awards show has a weird and wild history that has been scrubbed from their Wikipedia page! Its governing body, the “Hollywood Creative Alliance” has a somewhat contentious Wiki page, which currently has a banner atop it noting that it is consistently being edited by someone who has “a close connection to the subject.” I love niche fights like this, you know there is a Wiki editor out there who is IRKED by this one. So, no offense to the Astra Awards, but this particular event is a little questionable in terms of legitimacy. But that never stopped people from turning up places, and perhaps they’re working hard to clean up their act! Godspeed, I say.
