Perhaps you — as I did when I revisited this post — thought, “Aw, it’s just a little light Rooney Mara cosplay. It’s not that dramatic.” Not so:
I have discovered — with the gift of time — that I really enjoy it when Anne Hathaway throws caution to the wind and gets nutty. AND THIS IS NUTTY. It’s Rooney Mara+, which is like Disney+ but for goth glamour. It is a villainous Tom Ford cocoon paired with couture leg braces that have their own built-in shin guard. Just in case a lady’s high-society kickball league performs one of its signature gala ambushes and you have to hit the pitch. Who wants to make THAT movie, and can Ted Lasso coach them?
