Shogun is a massive hole in my pop-culture consumption, because it is VERY MUCH a two-eye show that demands my whole focus and I have no whole focus right now; almost everything I watch has to be done while multitasking. But I’ve heard Anna Sawai is brilliant in it, and on Sunday night she became the first-ever Asian woman to win Lead Actress in a Drama, and did it in a power color that ties in very nicely to the Japanese flag. And so we kick off our Emmys coverage with the reds and oranges, and two women who made history.
