I’m sure this makes me basic — something that a) I totally am, and b) will not surprise you, and c) isn’t so bad — but I’m extremely excited for this last Star Wars movie. (Well, in THIS trio of trilogies, anyway.) The emotional Big Finish version of the iconic song, which they’ve used in the trailer, really gets me misty. I am fond of Rey, and Finn, and Poe, and I think Adam Driver as Kylo Ren is super, and I like Rose too, even though she got saddled with a pointless plotline in The Last Jedi. I like the universe, the droids, the visuals, Chewy, the original three movies, flaws and inconsistencies and all… I know it’s been a Lucasfilm overload since they rebooted the franchise, and not all of them have been worthy (Solo was awful), but what can I say, I have happy memories associated with so many of these films and I am seeing this one on the 20th and YAY. In other news, Daisy Ridley popped out for the first premiere in Tokyo looking very much like a modern Leia and I think it suits her. Personally, I’d love to see Rey turn up in 40 years as the General in charge of a new crew of upstarts. She can be the centerpiece of a a healthy multisexual throuple with Poe and Finn. It’ll work.
