After taking over during the resort and ready-to-wear seasons, Alessandro Michele finally got to send an haute couture collection down the runway — something he never did at Gucci, as they are not a couturier — and the vision very much mixes his jumbled, loud Gucci aesthetic with the big skirts you’d expect from classic Valentino. Some of it is objectively INSANE but some is gorgeous, and all of it is a hoot to behold — a definite shift, and an expected one, and one that should get Jodie Turner-Smith back to Michele’s side. Also, all will be forgiven if Ariana Grande busts out this first one at the Oscars.
