This must be the last major stop on the press tour, because Law captioned it, “Finale,” and for me it’s a very mixed ending. The brand, Matières Fécales, said Law asked them to hold this for Zendaya two years ago (it’s from their debut collection; alas, she did not do the full face paint). And the effect is very dramatic, although perhaps SLIGHTLY left of the mark? Unless I am mistaken, Athena typically is not depicted with wings unless maybe they are on her feet; she’s the goddess of warfare and wisdom and handicraft. I’m almost surprised Law didn’t borrow armor instead. (Edited to be clear: I am not saying they HAVE to be on theme, but they so frequently have been and this is a big statement piece, so it made me wonder.)(Also edited to add that a commenter made the connection for me with The Temple of Athena Nike, where both were worshipped, and Nike often IS depicted as winged victory so that’s likely the reference here and therefore the tie to Athena, who I think is also her sister? Half-sister? Learning! My Greek mythology is, indeed, weak.)(Still don’t love the hair in this heat.)
