It was a busy night last night, between the British Fashion Awards and now the Gothams, which typically kick off the film awards season even though the voting base is small. A Different Man won Best Feature, Sing Sing snagged an acting win for Colman Domingo, and other movies getting attention included Anora, Nickel Boys, Challengers, His Three Daughters, and Babygirl. Then of course they gave random individual honors to get extra celebs in the building, like Timothee Chalamet for A Complete Unknown (“Visionary Tribute”), Angelina Jolie for Maria (“Performer Tribute”), The Piano Lesson (“Ensemble Tribute”), and Zendaya (“Spotlight Tribute”).

Z leads off our parade of the evening’s neutrals, and then we’ll get into the bright stuff. Louis Vuitton is continuing its pattern of doing best for Zendaya by keeping it achingly simple. This is beautifully cut for her, and precisely fitted, and she looks sexy but understated. If it’s the end of her promotional year, it’s a gently gorgeous way to go, and I’m glad to see she and Law went in that direction just to remind us how well she does do it.
