I deeply enjoy that Common is wearing the same jacket that Stranger Things’ Caleb McLaughlin did to the AMAs — although Caleb upped the ante and wore THE ENTIRE SUIT, complete with matching shoes. Common, you have been put on notice. But that’s not important right now. What matters is that Common, I’ve decided, is helping us create the Common fanfic of our dreams. Here, he is clearly posing as himself preparing to knock on your front door, aware that the second his fist hits wood both of your lives are going to change forever and he’s marking the moment with a quick poem in his head. You’ll throw open the door and he’ll be like, “I just rented Back to the Future on iTunes,” and you’ll wipe away a tear and push the door open wider so that he can see you just started playing it on your TV. The fireworks of your embrace will pop all the Orville Redenbacher in your pantry, and everyone will live happily ever after, with occasional light bickering because even Common is not perfect but, guys, he’s really trying.
