So, obviously, the Big Deal Oscars After Parties did not happen — tragically for those of us who like to see what people wear to things; that Vanity Fair party is a content machine!! — but we did get little flares of events here and there. (Don’t ask me how any of these things fit into a pandemic situation, although I feel quite confident that 96% of Hollywood has already been vaxxed.) Andra Day hosted a small bash for the cast of United States vs. Billie Holiday, for which she changed. Paris Hilton went somewhere. Elton John hosted a simulacrum of his usual party (and raised three million dollars for his AIDs foundation) and Dua Lipa performed. I assume the folks at the ceremony attended the post-party, but I turned off Oscars After Dark because I’d been watching Oscars coverage since 1 p.m. and even though I love Andrew Rannells, it was time for mama to catch up with 9-1-1. Anyway, as anticlimactic as it seems to end this post by saying, “here they are, IT WON’T BE MUCH,” it….won’t be much.
We also got a few dribs and drabs on Instagram — honestly, I think most people stayed home and watched the ceremony with a face mask on and then went to bed, but a few folks either went to small gatherings or decided to do it up at home:
