The Oscars are VERY EARLY this year — February 9th — so if you’re worked up about these nominations for any reason, at least know that your emotional roller coaster will be short! Personally, I’m irked but not surprised about Greta Gerwig getting snubbed for Best Director — the writing felt like it was on the wall there — but irked AND surprised to be denied a Jennifer Lopez Oscar run, although I think Mark Harris’s take on this in Vanity Fair this morning nails why she didn’t get a nomination. (I think Kathy Bates snuck into her spot, right?)
