This event is technically named “The Kering Foundation Second Annual Caring For Women Dinner” and the foundation has an excellent objective. Their website says, “Since the Foundation’s inception, our mission has been to support women impacted by violence. We act with key partners to achieve real change: supporting survivor-centered services,
implementing programs to promote gender-equality with the youth and mobilizing our networks to join this combat.” That is great! And Salma Hayek, who is of course married to the CEO of Kering, which owns…almost every luxury brand on planet earth, including Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Yves Saint Laurent, and Balenciaga, both showed up and clearly made some phone calls.  And good on everyone! Put your money where your mouths are!

would note that the Kering Caring for Women dinner sounds like an event named decided by committee and you know someone got all spun up about how well Kering/Caring works and didn’t want to hear that the “Caring for Women Dinner” sort of recalls The Human Fund. But no matter if the money went where it’s meant to. Bonus points: People wore stuff.
