If you’re keeping track, Paul Thomas Anderson took this one for One Battle After Another, beating out Ryan Coogler, Guillermo del Toro, Josh Safdie, and Chloé Zhao, and becoming the Oscars frontrunner for Best Director for real. I did not buy a photo of him but just imagine a white guy in glasses in a suit — you got it!
