We recently saw Chloe Sevigny in something from this Saint Laurent line, and it was the superior garment. Emma has the one that, incidentally, came down the runway right ahead of Chloe’s, and they wore it here pretty much exactly as it was styled there. The model clutched a coat to her side, and I wish we’d seen that in action. I think this misses that lush excess, which was on display with the other garment. In fact, of the outfits in that stretch, ALL the ones with the coats or with ruffled halters were better than the two like this. Emma can carry a lot — they are VERY ambitious with fashion — but out of context, and under the brighter lights, this plays as too cartoonish for me. Less sassy and more silly. My kingdom for that jacket, honesetly.
