Free form thoughts here: Everyone knows it’s a modern adaptation if they use a + rather than “and” in the title. Also, there’s something sweet to me about the fact that Zegler is probably currently best known for playing the Juliet role in the world’s most famous Romeo and Juliet adaptation that’s not literally called Romeo and Juliet, and now she’s playing actual Juliet. As niches go, it’s a good one, though — it’s only arguably the most iconic Shakespearean role for a young women. (Lady Macbeth being the iconic one for an actress who is no longer an ingenue, obviously.) ALSO: this dress is charming and she looks sweet in it, and I can’t believe they make the actors in a major Broadway production do a whole red carpet dog and pony show BEFORE their opening night performance! Let this young woman meditate in her dressing room or whatever she needs to do!! Having said that: It’s clearly good for press because here I am typing about it. Thanks for not making me get all those thoughts in a reasonable order and accepting my brain dump on a Friday.
