Dior sucked in Rachel Zegler pretty early in her West Side Story run, and I was not a fan of their work with her, for the most part. So I was delighted to see her splash out at the (first?) Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes event in that fiery-tinged McQueen. They used West Side Story as a more of a princessy coming-out period for her, and now she’s branching out into edgier stuff, which I think is smart even if I don’t universally love the results. Her tousled hair here is good, and the suiting and the monochrome and massive blazer are all very Of The Moment, but the overlong skirt drags things down for me. I feel like a pencil cut would have been better because as it is EVERYTHING just looks like the sizing is wrong. But at least she’s not wearing Fashion Panties! Oh, wait:

What a womp-woooomp of a scrolldown. If it were only a skirt, and not drawers that bisect her crotch! Sigh. First Miu Miu, and now Sergio Hudson. Please don’t let a third crop up and make it a trend.
