This was at an event called “TheGrio Awards,” because they’re affiliated with the media network TheGrio and seem to be punctuated as such. I keep wanting to make it The Grio Awards or The TheGrio Awards, and to further complicate things, the website capitalizes the T, but the backdrop here doesn’t, so… in sum, I hope they add a whole AP Style advice section to their About page.
With that out of the way: Queen Latifah. QUEEN LATIFAH. She attended as an honoree for her achievement in TV, and I am nearly speechless about this outfit. She is dressed as the rosette for the winner of Best Artisanal Mustard at a gourmet food competition, I do not know how this came about nor why she is clad in a ruff, and I just want to stare at it for the rest of the afternoon. Also, not for nothing, I’d like to sample that championship mustard.
