Harry Styles, the Internet’s 2020-21 boyfriend, is feeling it right now. Stories of him being a very good egg keep leaking onto the Internet, and then he nailed down that Vogue cover and photoshoot with laser precision, and now he’s opened 2021 with a black-and-white video of him singing and doing an Old Hollywood dance number with the Internet’s darling from 2019, Phoebe Waller-Bridge. And it is CHARMING. Admittedly I was underwhelmed by the song when it began, but as it goes and the refrain is placed in its proper context, it gets so toe-tappy, and by the end my head was bopping along too:
I would watch an entire TV series wherein Phoebe Waller-Bridge wears argyle and wide-legged pants and strolls through a supper club nursing a cocktail and sparkling and doing the occasional hand-jive. She’s dazzling. This whole thing is joyous; the only thing that could make it better is if Miss Piggy and Charles Grodin were there. (Also, they kind of have the same hair, but flopping in different directions?)
