Team Robbie had Prada remake a 1964 Barbie outfit called Black Magic Ensemble, which an Instagram commenter said — and I believe everything I read, obviously — would have come out sooner, if not for the SAG-AFTRA strike. I love the notion that there’s a whole rack of these in reserve in Andrew Mukamal’s studio, waiting in dust bags.
They chose thematically, as a horde of other folks summoned their own versions of black magic on this evening, some with greater success than others. Three cheers for Rachel McAdams repping Are You There, God? It’s Me, Margaret, which was supposedly an utter delight and I’d love to see it sneak into the awards conversation.
