It sounds like talks between the AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA have taken a sour turn, as I guess the studios are walking away from the table — which is incredibly frustrating because all those writers are ready to go and all these actors would really like to work. The AMPTP is leaking its mess to Deadline, in what feels like a very familiar attempt to break union solidarity by making them all mad at their leadership, but that didn’t work for the WGA and I don’t think it will work here, either. None of these companies have EVER been less popular among the rank-and-file; they’re not gonna turn their backs on Fran Drescher for this shit. Folks predicted after the WGA settled that SAG would take until November, and I have one friend who said back in May that he thought the whole thing would go until February if it actually went as far as November. I hope HE is wrong. COME ON, PRODUCERS. At this rate the Abbott Elementary kids will be full-grown before they turn the cameras on again.
