This is a helpful reminder for me that Emily Mortimer has directed and written an adaptation of Nancy Mitford’s The Pursuit of Love, a book that I loved but which I must note is also a pretty big bummer. Lily DOES look highly professional, but also slightly like something’s happening that might be a secret bummer. So that works thematically! (I personally prefer her lighter hair, but somehow it seems I do not get a vote on what Lily James does with her hair.)
Meanwhile, I feel like Emily Beecham’s outfit says, “I am ready for someone to cast me in a madcap miniseries about lady magazine editors in the ’70s,” and that’s also a very understandable life choice, frankly.
