We looked at the red carpet celebrating these covers earlier today, now let’s look at the covers themselves! Spoiler: Everyone looks HIGHLY likeable and reasonable in them, which makes sense. Hopefully, no publication is going to be like, “we are honoring you with a cover, HERE YOU ARE DRESSED AS A CHICKEN.”

Variety has been rolling out all the rest of the associated interviews over today and yesterday, and you can read them all here, but the big get is Kim Cattrall’s, which is JUICY and great. You’ve probably read bits of it all over the internet already, but it’s really worth reading in its entirety. Ramin Setoodeh is a very good interviewer, first off, but also, every time Kim talks about Sex and the City, and And Just Like That, she just sounds so savvy and assured, while being really honest about it.

Sarah Jessica has said that if you decided to play Samantha again, she wouldn’t be OK with that. Did that hurt your feelings?

I don’t think I read it.

She said there was too much that had happened publicly between the two of you.

Well, it would never happen anyway. So nobody has to worry about that.

Have you watched “And Just Like That …”?

I certainly heard about it. And I’ve come to the conclusion that really the greatest compliment I could have as an actor is to be missed.

And then later:

With the texting on “And Just Like That …,” some of us were still holding out hope you’d return to Samantha one day.

You know the thing about doing a show like “Sex and the City”? I think Darren got it right with “Emily in Paris.” It’s a young show. It’s about young ideals. It’s about discovery. I think the original show is really amazing, but that was a different time.

So it’s a definite no?

That’s a no. It’s powerful to say no.

For real. Read the whole thing for the entire context, but those two bits were interesting to me. I really generally like and respect SJP but I have a theory that Kim Cattrall turning down the third film really frosted her and she’s been trying to come out on top of this perceived feud ever since — which honestly is a human impulse I can understand, but I don’t think it’s been serving SJP very well. Having said all that…I look forward to the two of them patching it up in like 10 years and doing a remake of These Old Broads.
