Welcome to our coverage of the Tony Awards, my favorite of the awards shows because it absolutely gets what we’re here to see and celebrate — even though I do acknowledge it’s a lot easier to do this through live performance than at, say, the Oscars. That said, I am willing to entertain making the Oscar nominees act at each other live. Just hand them some random sides, give them ten seconds to look at them, and GO.
Anyway, we’ll break out the acting nominees first, and then cover the rest. First up, the nominees for featured performances, which is what the Tonys seems to call “supporting.” Kara didn’t win — Phylicia Rashad did — but she and Uzo Aduba brought the sparkle to this category.
