When I was a child, I LOVED playing with dolls and Barbies and I had a lot of them. One of my grandmothers was handy with a sewing machine, and sometimes she would make outfits for my Barbies, but more often, she would give me scraps of whatever she’d been working on for my dress-up box. Anyway, one year, for whatever reason, my grandmother had a ton of dramatic black lace and I got the remnants, which I used — obviously — to create dramatic mourning clothes for my Barbies, whose lives were very influenced by All My Children, which my mom watched, and Dallas, which my great-grandma would let me stay up to watch with her when I used to spend the night there. Those dolls attended a LOT of dramatic funerals for people who eventually turned out not to be dead. And if there was a large piece of black lace over Gal’s head here, it would look just like that. Do NOT let her get anywhere near the elevator of the Barbie Townhouse, that story ends in tears.
