I never saw the Richard Chamberlain adaptation of Shōgun, and have not read the book — and just confidently announced in May that I thought this version was dead!! — but if there’s anything Fug Nation is at home for, it is a sweeping epic saga of People Having Problems in Olden Times, so I’m in! I’m also into the dress on star Anna Sawai, who I just watched in AppleTV+’s mid-but-not-too-mid-to-stop-watching Godzilla series, Monarch. There, she was DISTRACTINGLY PRETTY but somewhat flat, performance-wise. Luckily, this dress only says — well, maybe not “distractingly pretty,” but definitely “cool and interesting,” but either way, that’s a good edit!
