The Elle Style Awards were slightly smaller than I had hoped — my dream was that all these celebs and their pent-up fashion energy would EXPLODE upon the proceedings — but we still got a dose of Florence Pugh and Gwendoline Christie and Arsema Thomas, which is enough for a meal. Florence accepted the British Icon award in a gown by Alexander McQueen — whose Sarah Burton also won a Vanguard Award at the event — and I liked what she said about being a person of contradictions, whose only intent is to keep loving and growing and being protective. I like her in general. She seems like an engaging person, and my god, can she act. And whether you love or hate this, at least it’s a break from Valentino?
