Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald has added several more characters and one misguided recast (the Colin Farrell-for-Johnny Depp swap), and still sounds like it’s mediocre. Thankfully, Ezra Miller is doing his level best to make the promotion interesting. If you want to get a fuller picture of him as a human, this Hollywood Reporter piece is a good start; he is barefoot in an unicorn costume in Vermont, smoking weed, talking about a wide range of subjects. I suspect a lot of what makes him seem potentially exhausting also contributes to him having a certain dynamism on-screen. He’s often mentioned as the best part of whatever he’s in, and indeed, he might be the best part of this slideshow.
