I choose to believe the skirt is a sparkly homage to seams on a baseball.

Pretty... and pretty precarious.

She can make any old thing seem joyful, and trust, this IS any old thing. Why do her wrists need wigs?

She won for a travel program she hosts. I appreciate that she went big, even if her boobs look like an angry owl.

But this. THIS is appropriately some soapy drama. Ambyr won in the "emerging talent" category – once "Younger Performer," but they changed it last year, possibly so they could expand the pool and not have to define "younger" anymore – and indeed she is emerging from within Santa's sack.

As she's gotten older, Saleisha (an ANTM winner) has increasingly started to resemble Ciara, facially. And maybe in terms of her taste for sheers, although this is not dramatic in that vein. It's quite nice, actually.

Daphnee is on Beyond the Gates, and she looks fab in this color. One more reason to love soaps: They employ a LOT of actors who are over 40, and give them juicy things to do. Her character Nicole almost throttled a psychotic interloper, and is now divorced and dating multiple dudes. LIVE, Nicole!

The legendary Tamara plays Anita Dupree, who I believe has both a breast cancer storyline AND was haunted by a dead member of her former girl group. That's a lot for a year. (Anita is also canonically an EGOT winner, which I enjoy.)

I thought her ring was a huge gold spider for a moment.

Beautiful. And the earrings crown it perfectly.

Bless her, but she's always had highly questionable taste and this is no exception. She looks like a funeral flotilla.

Maybe EVERY actress to play Victoria Newman is required to have questionable taste?

This is also dreary, cleavage notwithstanding.

She is also on Beyond the Gates and was nominated, and she did NOT HOLD BACK.

She used to be one of Blair Waldorf's cronies on Gossip Girl; I didn't realize she's been on General Hospital for a while now. She looks terrific. Very sophisticated.

This is your annual reminder that Juliet, a.k.a. that literal witch Tabitha on Passions, is married to Maxwell "Cool Rider" Caulfield.

This was one of the most interesting ensembles on a man on this night. I like the concept; the execution – by which I mean the literal making of it – seems potentially a bit slapdash?

This seems exactly right.

This is basically a glorified t-shirt dress, but she's glitzing it up with her bracelets, underscoring all our yawping over the years that accessories should not be overlooked.

I was with her right until the end, when we got to the shoes. Single toe loops belong in ice skating ONLY.

... for the Emmys, though?

Mandi is a costume designer who handles The Young and the Restless. (We interviewed her once back when she was doing Pretty Little Liars, and she was a lot of fun.) There must be so much pressure when you outfit people for a living, but I LOVE how intense this is. It's perfect.

This seems ideal – comfy, roomy, great color, perfect with gold accessories.

She has put on a LOT of shiny body lotion here. I thank her for the blood-red pedicure and lipstick; they really liven up the proceedings.

She is 61 years old and looks exactly the way she did when she started on Y&R in 1994, but without any obvious traces of intervention that I can see. WITCHCRAFT.

And Kate here is 79, and has made a career out of playing Esther the maid in the Chancellor mansion. I don't even know how often she's on, but she's still kicking – and, as a bonus, started a second career as a United flight attendant in 2022.

I like Cricket's accessories; it's been a good day for everyone's add-ons, mostly.

Genie quite rightly won a lifetime achievement awards, although I'm sure it was aggravating to have to deal with it in a boot. One must persevere.

I know he's still got some silver stubble on his lip, and that it's been thus for a while, but Victor Newman without a robust mustache never fails to stop me in my tracks.
