For whatever reason, The Watchers and The Watched are the same movie by different names — apparently the latter title is only in the UK and Ireland? I’m sure someone has a logical explanation for the change, but it does sort of shift the perspective, doesn’t it? Which SIDE of the watching is the more important one, Warner Bros?!? I blame David Zaslov, even if it isn’t his fault, because I’ve decided everything is his fault. Anyhoo, the movie — based on A.M. Shine’s book — was written and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan, daughter of M. Night, who produced. That’s her on the left, with her dad’s DNA very much in full force — she looks so much like him to me — and a weird corset situation that I actually think works pretty well on her?!? She looks very polished. I just can’t figure out why she’s in a cable-knit sweater and pants, and Dakota over there is dressed for brunch al fresco. They actually both look super, but like they are individually climate-controlled spaces. Like a Sleep Number bed, but for photoshoots.
Dakota busted out an Erdem for the screening:
Erdem used to drive me nuts — it was almost always too froofy — but this print is lively and cool. Dakota looks great. She wore another Erdem for press that was very simple but also effective. This could be the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Or at the very least, a hot fling.
