It is never the wrong time for more of La Bassett, who has been quietly slaying her press tour for something called Gunpowder MilkshakeLook how fantastic her head is (second slide is a close-up):

The jumpsuit is also very good, except for how I am meh on cold shoulders. It’d be great without the sleeves. But honestly, the color, the rest of her, the contrasting neon nails… it all works, and it pops. It leaps off the screen. And these days that’s more important than ever.

Angela Bassett, it turns out, is adept at selling designs I don’t typically swoon for, like this one:

I have come around on the gown-and-pants combo a lot over the years, admittedly, but still. This might just look like a red clump in most other contexts, but she elevates it.

The sheers are what lose me, but not just because I’m a sad cow stuck in an anti-sheers rut. The white tank top under the blouse makes the pockets look like modesty patches, sort of? It takes me RIGHT out of the ethereal effect, which is a shame, because she’s selling the super-high-waisted pants better than anyone has a right to do. Still, it’s another divine color.

This is, sadly, D&G:

It’s super on her. I would 100 percent attend that circus. Just… maybe a different sponsor next time?

The suit is by Trouser 9, an LA-based brand owned by a Black woman named Jhirae Talmadge. I hadn’t heard of Trouser 9 before, so that’s a great use of platform from Angela and her stylist. D&G: not the only people who can make suits. Case in point:

This one is by Honayda, another woman-owned business, and it is tremendous on her.

I am fond of this, too, which is apt because it’s an outfit professing love:

Even satin behaves for this woman. It’s a miracle.
