So, we’re lumping the best actor and actress in a miniseries in with the best supporting TV actors and actresses because the best supporting category ALSO encompasses folks in miniserieseseses because the Globes…are weird. Anyway, the real point of this post is to (a) salute Cate Blanchett for skipping these shenanigans, (b) complain about how nonsensical it is that the Globes make ALL supporting actors duke it out in the same category, which means that you’ll get sensitive and nuanced dramatic performances judged against more broad (but still hugely adept!) comedic ones, in what is almost always an apples-to-oranges situation, (c) note that the weird vagaries of a pandemic awards show means that you are only going to see some of these folks in their tiny Zoom box set-ups. We’re all going to just deal with this!
