I was trying to figure out if there’s a significance to Anika choosing purple for this Martin Luther King, Jr., celebration. The Internet was not conclusive, but a few sources together claim purple can mean anything from peace, to royalty, to bravery, to sacrifice. What is conclusive, at least for me, is that she looks phenomenal. She co-hosted this event and I believe performed at it as well, and it would’ve been hard to look anywhere else. And why would you want to? Well, because Viola Davis was ALSO there and how can anyone resist:
She kept it a lot simpler, understandably. I’d be lying if I said this is my favorite dress on her — I am not sure the bodice gains anything from being asymmetrical — but the necklace is great, and it prompted me to check IMDb to see what she’s up to now and it turns out she has about six projects in various stages of percolation (including a DC show filming, based on her Suicide Squad character). So if you’ve felt a Viola void lately, she’s working to try and fill it. I wish we could get them in something TOGETHER, other than “a room.”
