This is how I learned that Apple TV has a new iteration of Cape Fear. I pray to the streaming TV gods that Amy Adams is playing a gender-flipped version of the Robert De Niro role. Fun fact: When I went over to Wikipedia to make sure my memory about De Niro was correct, I read this insane sentence: “Originally developed by Steven Spielberg, he eventually decided that it was too violent and traded it to Martin Scorsese in exchange for Schindler’s List, which Scorsese had decided not to make.” I cannot imagine anyone but Spielberg making Schindler’s List and I definitely cannot imagine Cape Fear in Spielberg’s hands. This was a smart swap! Anyway, tuck that one away for your trivia night. It will be easier to remember than any of these outfits, all of which are FINE but won’t set anything on fire. Which is also okay: Not everything needs to be a world-bender. (Okay, maybe the mauve on Patrick Wilson is slightly bending the world, at the edges.)
