I loved Mary Beth as Peter Florrick’s mother Jackie on The Good Wife — she was such a deliciously smug busybody and occasionally well-meaning (but usually only if it benefited Peter) nag. I really think The Good Wife benefited so tremendously, almost more than the various Law & Order franchises, from its New York locale and the raft of marvelous theatre actors available to them for what were always juicy recurring parts. But whenever I think of Peil’s voice, it’s always the sound of her purring, “Jenni-fuuuuh,” at Michelle Williams on Dawson’s Creek. Remember when she delivered Joey’s sister’s baby? Good times. Grams was unflappable. And Mary Beth has been looking SENSATIONAL, so take my hand and let me share it with you.
