I thought about covering the Ambani wedding for Drinks With Broads, but honestly, CNN and others have beaten us to a timeline of what seems to be the world’s most expensive nuptials — I have seen a reported price tag of $600 million, and given the size and scope, that may be a conservative estimate. While multi-event weddings are not culturally uncommon, CNN says Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant threw an average of one event every six weeks since their engagement in September, ending this past weekend with the actual ceremony. Rihanna performed at their pre-wedding party in March (the only other time she’s sung live in the last six years was the Super Bowl), which also included “a feast of 500 dishes cooked by around 100 chefs.” The European cruise party in May included sets from Katy Perry, David Guetta, Pitbull, the Backstreet Boys, and Andrea Bocelli, and Justin Bieber sang live at the sangeet in early July. And there were rumors of more headliners for the event itself, but I haven’t seen any confirmation that anyone performed — though they did have a Jonas Brother on hand, plus Kardashians and John Cena.
