I was actually hoping it would turn out that Kate Hudson isn’t even IN Kung-Fu Panda 3, and that she was just turning up there to continue her Kate Hudson Goes To Everything Now world tour.

But, no such luck: She does voice a character in the movie. And she looks nice at the premiere, if perhaps a bit cleavage-y for what appears to be a daytime premiere of a kids’ movie. Let’s take a look at the dress without the panda:

Hmm. At least Po provided an accessory. I appreciate the attempt to match her nails to her lipstick, but I think this could have used some more energetic styling — some youthfully funky jewelry, maybe, to offset how ethereal the dress is. It’s not terrible, it’s just not captivating for me, either. It doesn’t feel like a complete sentence. Or in political terms, there is a chad hanging.

I also don’t think she feels confident with her hair this length. It never seems as if she quite knows what to do with it, or as if it’s behaving. I know how this goes, as I also cut my hair, and I veer between liking it and thinking it’s frumpy (which admittedly depends largely on how it decides to dry itself). Figure it out, Kate, so that I can take notes and then wrongly apply them to my totally different hair type. Merci.
