This is exciting — I’ve been waiting for someone to wear one of these.
The original runway version had a blue belt, and if I’m being honest, I might miss it a little. I feel like I’m seeing a crease in the lining that I might not otherwise notice. (I also miss the model’s makeup.) But it’s a minor thing. The dress is, as I noted at the time, like an art deco city skyline, or a hallucinogenic mix of New York’s skyscrapers with Lady Liberty’s crown — and it’s regal and interesting and wholly unique. So too is the wearer, and I think they make a mighty magnificent match. Rooney Mara, be jealous. Givenchy granny panties cannot compare.
