Wow, I like this Chanel so much better than I would have imagined from the artsy and vague shot of it we saw during Couture Week. That revealed none of its potential. Maybe it was just waiting for Vanessa. Those pants are a little thick and stiff-seeming, but the top is chic as hell; the whole thing looks perfect on her. I’m trying to imagine it on any of Chanel’s other regulars — Penelope Cruz, Julianne Moore, Kristen Stewart, even Vanessa’s daughter Lily-Rose Depp — and I just don’t think it would have worked the same way. Every outfit has its context, and this is a prime example of one that found its home.
