On one hand, I truly believe the Emma Thompson/Kate Winslet Sense and Sensibility is a PERFECT FILM and needs no updating. On the other, I have enjoyed many an Emma and also many a Pride and Prejudice, so carry on, I suppose. (I do not think it is humanly possible for anyone to be better in this role than Emma Thompson is, though, sorry to Daisy Edgar-Jones!!!!)

Yes, because you are doing the math right now, Caitríona Balfe — who did not attend this screening; nor did Stacy Martin or Tom Brooke — is 46. Daisy Edgar-Jones is 28. Technically this is probably accurate to Jane Austen’s period, but Balfe certainly does feel (and look) young to be playing “The Mom” in this one. Maybe that’s why she stayed home! (I jest; she’s at TIFF for another project.) Let’s look at outfits, though — there are some real choices in here.
